At the moment I am at JFK on my way
Kat Zerebiec | 16 06 2009At the moment I am at JFK on my way to Portland Maine, where I will be working for Upward Bound. During the summer program I will be teaching figure skating as an extracurricular to the students. I will mainly be a science tutor and counselor, the coolest science tutor and counselor. If you don’t know about Upward Bound, then I’ll try to explain it briefly. It is a government funded program that tries to get students interested in college by provided a Mon-Fri college experience on the campus, with college students leading college level classes. After the program I will be in Minneapolis painting murals in Uptown. Hopefully I will be able to continue to teach skating there. I will be looking for a rink soon enough.
I am sitting in Starbucks on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu,
guenishi | 23 08 2009I am sitting in Starbucks on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii waiting for my shift to start at a Japanese restaurant. Despite being the “web guy” for NSS, it still amazes me how much I can still contribute to the Northfield community from the middle of the Pacific Ocean. After graduating from Carleton, I came to Honolulu and started researching in a molecular biology laboratory at University of Hawaii. Right now, I’m studying regenerative genes in acorn worms in partnership with Hiroshima University in Japan. I have decided to attend the graduate school while I wait for my letter of acceptance (or rejection) from the Peace Corps. It’s sad that I won’t be able to teach skating here, but maybe I’ll start taking surfing lessons
Hope to return to Minnesota one day!

Sarah Besse | 12 08 2012Hello NSS community!
I moved to Boston in July to start at Boston Teacher Residency. I’m doing grad school courses now for a masters in elementary education, and will be student-teaching in a first-grade classroom from September to June. Let me know if you are in the area!
