This afternoon, 3 of our staff members attended a Professional Skaters Association National Seminar hosted by Diana Ronayne, Director of Figure Skating at Shattuck St. Mary’s School in Faribault, MN. The day-long event covered topics including jump and spin technique, sports science and conditioning for skaters, roles and responsibilities of coaches, and the ins and outs of the International Judging System. We listened to presentations, observed skaters, watched videos and even skated ourselves! Among the list of distinguished presenters were Diane Miller, Master Rated coach from Colorado; Scott Brown, IJS Technical Specialist and Master Rated Choreographer; Jill Hare, Basic Skills Program Manager of US Figure Skating; Kelly Morris-Adair, President of PSA; and Carl Poe, M.S., CSCS Off-Ice Strength & Conditioning Coach.
