Our annual ice show is back! Shattuck-St. Mary’s Skating Academy is proud to present our fifth annual Ice Show production, and Northfield Skating School skaters are welcome to participate. Come join the fun as we skate to a medley of upbeat Hollywood music. The show is a full blown production involving lighting, costumes, scenes and beginner to elite level skaters. It is a wonderful learning experience for skaters. Levels Basic 2 and higher may participate, and we encourage everyone to consider this great opportunity.

On Sunday, Nov 20, we welcomed dozens of new skaters to the Northfield Arena for the Northfield Skating School’s annual Bring a Friend Day. Parents, siblings, neighbors, and friends enjoyed a lesson with an NSS coach and time to learn new skills with their friends. Lessons were followed by a special exhibition of competitive skaters from the Northfield Skating School and guest skaters who train with NSS coaches at the St. Paul Figure Skating Club and Eagan Ice Crystal Figure Skating Club. SESSION 3 PARENTS:
The Session 3 parent meeting will be Thursday 1/27 from 7:00-8:00pm at the Bridgewater Elementary School cafeteria, 401 Jefferson Parkway, Northfield.
The meeting was originally scheduled for the Northfield Arena, but we now have access to a larger, brighter space!
All new parents are requested to please attend the meeting to be well-prepared for your child’s first day skating with NSS. Coach and class assignments will be distributed at the meeting. Please contact Carey with questions or if you are unable to attend. The presentation is geared toward parents, but skaters are welcome to attend.
Each skater is invited to bring one special guest to our final Session 2 lesson on Jan 16th!
Friends may bring their own skates or rent skates. Rental skates are available first-come, first-served. ALL friends, regardless of age or relationship to the skater, are required to turn in a signed waiver before entering the ice.

Celebrate Halloween on ice at the Northfield Arena! Enjoy a morning of open skating with the Northfield community. Costumes welcome and rental skates available.
Last week, fifty skaters representing 14 arenas in Minnesota and Wisconsin gathered at the Pleasant Arena in St. Paul for our annual Rising Stars Camp. Skaters ranged in age from 3 – 13. Rising Stars Camp is hosted by the St. Paul Figure Skating Club and directed by Northfield Skating School Founder/Director Carey Tinkelenberg.
Throughout the week, skaters participated in on-ice skills & drills, creative movement classes, off-ice jumping, strength, and stretch classes, arts and crafts, and special workshops. Special workshops included a nutrition seminar, strength and conditioning specialist, and SOMA class with choreographer Tara Stamm. All skaters also prepared solo routines that they performed at an exhibition on July 22. Thank to you skaters, coaches, parents, and volunteers for a fun and successful event. See you next year!
